no - what he means is you can only have 4gb - thats the 32bit maximum addressable amount of RAM per the OS. The maximum useable about of ram is 3gb for applications, and 1gb for the OS in that instance. And yes XP starts to yelp when you get over 3gb - Vista is a lot more compatible and able to handle the 4gb. It is useable - but anything over 2gb is overkill anyways. There are other applications like the intel additional memeory addressing application can make them more useful in XP - but like I said if you are on Vista - 4gb is fine.

Correct... in a more technical way XP= no more than 2GB Vista=no more than 3GB unless you use 64bit os.... FOR NOW!!! There is a rumor that there is a patch to allow vista 32 bit utilize more than 3GB.... don't know if it is a near future thing.

When applications are made for 64 bit they are more efficient since I believe that means it runs 64 processes per cycle instead of 32. Also, in 32 bit it is impossible to write addresses for more than 4GB of memory, so pretty soon here your gonna see a lot more application and game support for 64 bit because of that limitation.
