I wanted to see what you guys thought about getting a wired LAN connection to my xbox. Before, it was basically right next to my computer. Now that we are in the new house, it is literally on the other side of the house. The way I see it, I have two options. 1) Run a 50 foot ethernet cable through my crawlspace to a data jack or 2) see if one of those lan over electricity ethernet bridges will work. Thoughts? Is there another option I'm missing besides going wireless on my xbox (which I don't want to do)?

I went wireless, it's been great so far.

I have my PS3 hooked up via wifi. It works fine--consoles don't have as intense bandwidth requirements as PC's, I guess.

I got a wrt-gl router and hacked it to be a wireless bridge.

Haven't heard anything good about the LAN over power line stuff, but it may be ok as long as it is a newer house

I think option 1 is your best bet though

Just to throw my two cents in on the internet over power line stuff too--I haven't heard anything good about it either.

I would always go wired :) I have found that games are not bad over wifi, but Netflix blows over wifi. If you want to watch anything in HD it will buffer or cut back on your resolution. That has been my findings. The other alternative is running it external out of your house, and tuck it under your siding :) if I have time next weekend I can do that for you. I would find a router and do as Dagger did before buying a wireless unit for your xbox just in case you go the wireless route.
