I'm getting so sick of hearing about how awesome Avatar was and how it should win all these awards and shit. I'll give them Best Visual Effects and MAYBE Best Director for James Cameron since he created some pretty revolutionary techniques for filming, but last night Avatar was awarded Best Drama at the Golden Globes. Are you kidding me? I saw the midnight release in 3-D and I fucking fell asleep right before the end battle scene (it was after the two hours of bullshit nothing). The story line is totally unoriginal and a direct rip-off of Pocahontas and the acting was really sub-par. I can totally respect the amount of work put into the visuals of the film but by no means did this make the film "amazing". I have three reasons why I think Avatar is so overrated.

1.) James Cameron. Let's face it, this guy is a legend when it comes to directing and people expect nothing less than perfection from him. He now has directed the top two grossing films of ALL TIME. People went into theaters with their minds already made up on how "great" this film would be.

2.) 3D. Most people have not experienced this new 3D technology being used for some movies today. I saw Final Destination in 3D and although the movie sucked it was visually pretty awesome because I never saw anything like it.

3.) Hype. The movie had a $500 million dollar budget so you know this thing was going to be plugged to the max in every media outlet with hardly any negative views being given ear. People WANTED to enjoy the movie so bad so they could be in the cool clique, post Facebook status updates that read "OMG AVATAR WAS AMZING!1!!" and not feel left out.

If you haven't seen it, don't feel bad. Wait till it comes out on DVD and RENT it (not worth buying/downloading probably won't justify the visual effects) and find a pair of cheap 3D glasses.

Anyway I saw this beauty and it refueled my hatred for the fucking Avatar hype.

At least Michael C. Hall & Lithgow won some awards for Dexter...god I love that series.

Yeah I just started watching that series a little while back. I'm 2 episodes into season 3.

It's a great series. Season 4 is fantastic. Shame we have to wait until September for Season 5.

I dunno but I really liked Avatar. Thought it was a great movie. I didn't make the connection to Pocohontas but even still I don't think it would have mattered for me. The 3D part was a little overrated, kind of gimmicky at times but I really enjoyed the story.

It's not a terrible movie. It's just extremely overrated/overhyped and in my opinion there were at least 5 to 8 better movies released this year that are getting overlooked because of Avatar.

That Pocahontas thing is pretty funny though lol. Anyone seen book of eli?

I think, its not overrated movie. Its a great movie in 3D world. Its visual effects are awesome. I liked everything from this movie. I like background music, costume and story. I liked much 'Pendora'. Overall, it is a great movie.

Avatar had nothing more, nothing less than star wars 20 years ago. Cheesy script, crazy visual effect and it's probably the first family sci-fi in the last 10 years that was good ( Jar Jar binx was such a downer)

You guys saw Kick Ass or Nine ? Those were huge surprise to me and in my top 10 this year. Inception is the winner so far.
