http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006EKJ8UI/ref=ox_ya_os_product SSD hard drives are the single best performance upgrade you can do to your computer. I have been building computers for myself and others for about 15 years and in that time no other upgrade has yielded such a dramatic change in performance. If you don't have an SSD hard drive you should seriously consider getting one and using it as you boot drive. I just bought the 240GB version of this drive linked above and can't wait for it to get here. I currently have 2 96GB Kingston V100+ drives in Raid 0 that will be replaced by this one. At 75 cents a gig this is an extremely good deal. |

I know you and Fox has SSDs. Isn't there a noticeable speed decrease over time for SSDs? I haven't used one professionally or personally so I'm not really sure how much of that is rumor and how much is truth. |

That issue was resolved in the newer drives. Most of those reports were before TRIM and other technologies were implemented on the firmware of the drives to prevent it. I have had no noticeable performance degradation in the 2 I have currently. I will run some benchmarks and compare them to when I first installed then when I can. |

I haven't noticed any decrease in performance over the past year or so that I've been using mine. SSD's will eventually "die" because you can only write to flash memory so many times. The last theoretical numbers I saw were such that it would take something like 10 years of constant read/write access before your drive would be worn out. In my mind, that's not a problem because you're already exceeding the life expectancy of traditional HDD's. |

Just ordered a 240gb SATA3 Kingston HyperX SSD (r 555mb/s, w 510mb/s), thought it was time to get in on the action since i'm tired of waiting for things to load and my computer to boot everything up and become responsive. When I upgraded to my latest PC I bought all new parts except my case, PSU and HD's which was probably a mistake because these SATA2 HD's bottleneck the shit out of my otherwise beastly system. Here's hoping this new boot drive will give my PC a shot in the arm. This is what i'm running (minus the new SSD) Intel Core i7 2600K @ 3.4Ghz Asus P8Z68 Deluxe Mobo 16GB G.Skill Ripjaws DDR3 1866MHz RAM MSi GeForce GTX 580 Lightning Xtreme Edition 3GB GDDR5 Seagate 1TB (2x500GB) SATA2 32MB cache HD's <-------------- Boooo-urns BFG Tech 800W PSU |

This may seem like a silly question, but where in the Antec 900 case would you mount this drive? I'm trying to look inside for 2.5" slots but I don't know if I see any. |

Also, what do you think about this SSD? It's slightly more gigs for less money. http://www.amazon.com/Crucial-2-5-Inch- ... 256+gb+ssd |

Looks like it has good reviews. The sequential write speed is lower than some have advertised. I would look for real world benchmarks to see how it performs. As for mounting, some drives come with a mounting kit and some don't. If you get one that doesn't you need to buy a 2.5" to 3.5" mounting kit. You can find them for 4-7 bucks. |
