Post subject:  Battery backups

This has always been a question I can never seem to find a straight answer for so I'm hoping someone else knows for sure. I'd like to buy a new UPS so I can get more of equipment on it for voltage regulation. It has been awhile since I bought it, but I'm pretty sure my PSU is somewhere between 500 and 600W. Now, when I'm looking at VA and Watt ratings for a battery back-up, is that the maximum throughput I'm going to get all the time or just when the unit is running off the battery? My current battery back-up is only rated for like 375W I think. Does this mean I'm limiting my current PSU under heavy load or does it just mean that things COULD get weird if the battery back-up kicks on during an outage and my PC is running full load? This will decide whether I buy a $100 or $200 unit so I'm pretty curious.

or if I am limited my PSU now...I'll get one of these...

I'm not entirely sure on this, but I believe the rating on the PSU is the maximum throughput if your power goes out.

I just bought this one not too long ago when I moved and I like it a lot.

That's the same one I use, and I too like it very much.
